As much as I would love to share my thoughts on Lost, all I would say that I only happened to see couple of episodes. Never watched it regularly but definitely liked the episodes that I did watch.

Loved, loved the season opener last week. Can you believe what was in the hatch? When he was running in the stadium and met that guy I turned to my husband and told him what was going to happen. He thought I was nuts and it turned out I was right. I just love this show. But I still think the writers must all be on crack!

No, seriously, it amazes me that they have such a focused plan for this show. Everything ties together so well and each person is linked more and more as the show goes on. Simply brilliant. Not sure I have ever watched a show that has me so hooked.

If you want to start watching it, please buy season 1 and watch it first and you will not be disappointed. It only takes you a couple of episodes to hook you in.

It is about survivors from a plane crash stuck on an island. This island is no ordinary island. It is filled with mysteries and you get sucked right into it. They are there for a reason and each survivor has a past history that connects to the island. It is so twisted and so fun to watch.

It is on ABC Wed nights at 9pm Pacific

Again, please watch season 1 before watching the new season. Season 2 just started, but you really have to see the first season to fully understand and enjoy this show.

Thanks, I think I'll go get season 1 this weekend

I watched the "Real Giligan's Island" which aired I think in the end of last year or the start of this year...not too sure

mk
09-27-2005, 06:53 PM
lol. People like to call it a Giligan/X-files type of show. It is wrong to even compare it to those shows. None of them do this show justice. It is in a league of its own. Season 1 left us with another big cliffhanger and man! season 2 started where it left off, with more mystery.

Sorry, didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I was just having memories of my childhood with the original Gilligan's Island show that I was hooked to. I will give Lost a try and I am sure I will be hooked as well.

there are 24 episodes of season 1 and season 2 started last week. So if you want to actually know what this show is all about, you must see season 1. It is hard to explain why it's important, but I think every LOST fan would tell you the same thing. Watch season 1. Even if it takes you a week or 2, it is fine, you get to miss only 2 episodes of the new season and that can be downloaded from the net.

It is so incredible how they keep doing that past to present thing and how it connects to the plot. The writers are putting so many things together and still leaving so much mystery that we are dying to know. My favorite characters are Locke because he is so mysterious that I cannot figure if he is good or evil. I also love Hurley because he is so funny and that episode about his bad luck was just hilarious.

That's another thing. The numbers. It is shocking to see thigns like that tie into the island. It is just the best show I have ever seen.

We've been needing a Lost thread! Thanx for starting it!:D

I agree... it's one of the greatest shows ever and every week gets better and better! The writing is fantastic, the castaways are captivating - not to mention VERY YUMMY!:P

sooooo..... What do you think about the dude in the hatch? Do you think it's the exact same dude that Jack had a convo with in the stadium? I'm not so sure because the timeline didn't seem right... I didn't think Jack was that old... but maybe he looks young for his age? I definitely like Desmond (I think is the hatch dude's name)... Can't wait to see what he's all about...

Some people think Locke has gone to the dark side... I don't think so... maybe he is a little delusional over the island, but not evil... and maybe he sees the good side of it that the others can't yet? I dunno, but I certainly don't want to see him turn out to be a bad guy:(

Okay, who is your favorite character(s)?
Mine without a doubt is Sayid (as you've probably noticed in my sigs;))
I also love Locke and Danielle....
And I already know I'm going to love the part played by Adewale!! Can't wait to see what he's all about!

I do think the guy in the stadium and the hatch are the same. And for me it was another great WTF moment. I have had several of those while watching season 1. I am anxious to see more of the people that were on the raft adn to find out what happened to Walt. I also would really like to learn more about why Kate was running from teh cops before her Dr friend was ever killed. And what the heck is up with those numbers? LOL

KMJ, I agree that you have to watch season 1 first. It is an absolute must! This isn't a typical show. Every episode adn character is masterfully threaded together with little clues placed along the way. You will not get the same effect without watching it in order. It really is brilliantly done.

Almost every episode from Season 1 ended with me saying Oh My God. Or WHAT THE!! You can be the biggest skeptic and you will wonder what will happen next. I used to download the episode because I had night class, so I would watch it at 3am and man, the suspense was awesome for that time of the night. Just the coolest thing to watch before going to bed.

kabbalist, have you also noticed other things like the soccer team in the airport when hurley was rushing to get to the gate? each jersey had one of the numbers on it. when hurley slowed down...the guage went from 8 to 4 kms/hr...the numbers on the syringe that desmond used to inject himself as well...kate's bounty hunter collected a 23,000 reward...danielle has been on the island for 16 years...there are many examples of the numbers in each person's lives...

what i love about the show is the symbolism...the episode where locke helps charlie beat his herion addiction and the moth coming out from the cocoon...the black and white stones...the black and white pieces in the backgammon game...locke being a man of faith and jack being a man of science...i still want to know what locke said to walt when they were playing backgammon and he looks at walt and says "do you want to know a secret?"...

in my opinion, the whole show is centered around walt, or at least we will find out eventually that he has some kind of special part. he read hurley's comic book with the polar bear in it and a polar bear appeared on the island...the "others" want him for some reason....he has "feelings" about things, like they shouldn't have built the raft...also when he "appeared" to shannon last week, if you play what he said backwards it comes out as "don't push the button the button is bad" (or something like that)

desmond had typed the "numbers" into the computer earlier in the show and hit execute - is that the button?...so many mysteries...so many crossovers into each other's lives...every week leaves me wanting more and i can't wait to find out more about what is going on. can't wait to get lost again next week.

If it wasn't for the incredibly sexy Sayid :P Locke would be my favorite;)

I do know what happens to the raft guys... u2u me if you want to know...

And I have a theory of Kate just from past episodes... Her Mom freaked when she saw her and I think the man Kate killed....the man she loved who she killed is her father... why? I have no idea... But with all the "father issues" going on with the folks on the island that is my theory with Kate.

kabbalist, if you recall that episode where kate goes back to see her mom in the hospital and meets up with her "old flame" and now he's a doctor...when she is trying to get away, he gets into the car and is shot. i think this may be the man she loved - she feels like it is her fault he was killed. he was only trying to help her see her mother without getting caught...but i do have to say it's strange why her mother was afraid of her...again, so many mysteries!

I thought that the guy she killed that she loved was her doctor friend. They were childhood sweethearts and she did set up the bank robbery just to get the plane he had placed in the time capsule. I guess I just assumed that that was teh man she was referring to. However, there is definitely more to the story since she was in hiding before that. I wouldn't be suprised if her father does play a role in teh bigger picture somehow.

Yes, BUT Kate was already on the run... you could be right in that the man she loved she feels responsible for his death, but I still think she was on the run for killing her father... mainly based on how her mother reacted and how there seems to be so many father issues going on the show. Yeah, it's could be a stretch, but it's my theory... LOL;)

could very well be the case.

How much do I love the show Lost?? Let me count the ways........I was hooked from episode one...and I remember distinctly how rivited I was while watching it...my mom/sis and I were eating lunch and we could barely eat it because we were literally at the edge of our seats! *lol* And it's really no surprise that this show won best drama at the emmy's last Sunday...I was JUMPING for joy! And of course to see gorgeous Naveen Andrews in his suit...oohhh boy! *lol*

Anyway...for those of you who are 'lost' and haven't seen the show, I *urge* you to rent or buy season 1...you will not be disappointed...I promise you will be hooked.

And for those of you who are fans already...yeah I *really* loved the season opener...I was just itching to see what was inside that hatch! Boy what a surprise that was! And yeah I really love the fact that there's a connection theme for every storyline...the writing is just so outstanding...Oh...if you had to choose...who's background story was your favorite? Who's would it be? You would think since I'm a big fan of Sayid, his would be #1...but actually, the story that moved me the most was Locke's...I was really moved to tears.

Can't wait for tomorrow night to see more!! :)

mommyluvnoah

Sigh. I love Locke. He is fascinating and I really want to know what he saw when he saw the "monster" early in the first season. But I am always sad when they go into his backstory. Makes me hope he never gets off that freakin island! Seems to have a much better life on it. Makes you wonder what lengths he will go to to stay.

bbhypocite
09-27-2005, 09:15 PM
some more...

the mural on the wall in the hatch had a "108" in the middle, that's all THE numbers added up together

there was also an arrow pointing to a house on the mural that had the number 42 on it.

part of the mural had an eye, with an "M" and the word sick...therefore..."I AM SICK"

there is some kind of magnetic force in the hatch...notice when jack's key was being pulled away from his neck...could there be a magnetic force on the island bringing the planes down?

the music that desmond was playing was called "make your own music" with these lyrics...

you're gonna be nowhere
the lonliest kind of lonely
it may be rough going
just to do your thing's the hardest thing to do

also, when desmond leaves jack at the stadium he asks him about believing in miracles...locke has also asked him this many times...and sarah is cured suddenly....

desmond also says he is on a race around the world, and that he would see jack "in another life"...he also said he almost became a doctor once...

sarah was going to see a wedding planner when she had her accident...shannon and boone's mother was a well known wedding planner / owned wedding planning company...the guy in the other bad who dies was named "rutherford", same as shannon's last name...

the INSIDE of the hatch door says "quarantine"...danielle had said her crewmates died from disease...does that mean there is some disease on the island, and that is why desmond stays in the hatch and injects himself?

the logo in the room in the hatch was the same as the one on desmond's shirt at the stadium.

ok kabbalist...check this out...i just found it on a "lost" related site...it's about the thoery of everyone in the world having a twin and a book written on the subject...you and other lost fans may not only find it interesting but a little creepy....anyway here it is....

It's from a book called "Genetic Mirror Theory and Other Natural Occuring Phenoenon" by Marseille Roussau (recognize that name?)

I recently found an interesting natuarlly occuring thoery found in our world that states everyone has a mirror image somewhere in the world. You may have heard of this. Its called Roussau's genetic mirror theory, and I must say it is very interesting. Roussau's genetic mirror theory says that everyone in the world has an exact twin somewhere, however according to the theory you never encounter this person, by laws of probablitly and other natuaral occuring phemnomon. Its the theory that was devised by a French Mathematician named Marseille Roussau in the year 1988. He used a series of numbers to explain his theory. Now I know you're not going to believe this but here goes.

4 8 15 16 23 42

Let me explain...

The 4 stands for 4 degrees of separation (not 6 or 7 as commonly stated.) Roussau believed that everyone in the world was connected by four different people. So in theory could meet yourself by using four different people connected to you. Example: Your brother's, boss's, neighbor nephew, knows your mirror. Hard to believe, I know but keep reading.

The 8 stands for the eighth continent, or the only place in the world where you could meet your mirror. He calculated it to be somewhere in the south pacific. Now we know its not actually as large as the other contintents but its used figurtively because everyone in all 7 continents could meet their mirror on the 8th universal continent.

The 15 stands for the chances of you acually meeting yourself on this place, as in 15 out of 4,815,162,342. Look at the second set "815." Ring any bells? Interesting huh?

The 16 stands for the maximum amount of people that could encounter thier twin all at the same time. Think about the number of main characters.

The 23 is the number of years apart your twin and yourself are. You are not the same age as your twin. By chance and probablity it takes 23 years exactly for the same genes that made you to be connected again to form another you.

The 42 stands for the maximimum number of years your twin and yourself can be alive at the same time. However people do die at diffferent times so thats why everyone isn't dead at 75. For example my twin was born on Sept. 6 2003 b/c i was born on Sept. 6 1980. Now that doesn't mean i will die in the year 2045, I could, but its not set in stone. My twin could die when he is 16, and then the whole thing starts over again.

This is all very complicated and I don't know how well I explained it but the connections with the show are too coinidental to not be real.

Roussau and his team (wife, included) went to the 8th continent. You can figure out how they died and why by the numbers and equations. It also fits with every character. You can predict when they will die. There are others on the island who are twins of the survivors, but have been there 23 years longer.

This is a book Roussau wrote 16 years ago in 1988 when he came up with the theory. Thats where I got it from.

anyway, take from this what you may...but it is as this person stated way too coincidental not to be linked with the show somehow!

it was a split second in the underwater shot...when sawyer was swimming...the shark went by and you could see the symbol on the tail. did you also notice when locke typed in the numbers, the "other" numbers rolled to 108.00...again...the numbers added up...can't wait for next week. happy that jin is alive!

hurley was reading a spanish comic book with a polar bear in it on the plane...walt found it after the crash and started looking through it. a polar bear appeared on the island and sawyer shot it. it is theorized that walt conjured up the polar bear. michael later burned the comic book.

heck yeah...ther's no other way to watch the show than to watch from the first episode. just make sure you have a lot of spare time for a couple of days...because just like it is now...you won't be able to wait to see the next episode. i'm scared to get the dvd for fear of never leaving the house again. i'll have to build myself a hatch.

watch from episode one, and you won't be lost!:)

then again, you may be as lost as the rest of us...try to spot all the references to the numbers and the subtle appearances of the other characters in each other's flashbacks...like hurley being in the background on the tv in korea in one of jin's flashbacks.

Yeah, I saw some of the episodes last year, but for some reason when tuesday would come around, I would miss it for some reason. I love the show so I am determined not to miss any episodes this season. I cant wait to see where everything is going.

bigbrofan, it's true that desmond said that...and i found it strange too. he also said "you ran like the devil was chasing you"...that was also odd... there have been many "purgatory" theories that they are actually dead and in limbo...working out problems from their past before moving on to the afterlife. these rumours have been vehemently denied by the producers and writers, though. i had the same theory when i got a few episodes in.

Well, little Walt man has some ability to conjure this shit up. There was a flashback episode last year that went into the Michael/Walt/Walt's mother thing and how Michael got Walt and in one scene Walt's on the floor talking about how he has to do a report on birds in Australia....he's talking about one particular bird and BOOM that EXACT bird slams into the door and dies. That was when Walt's stepfather realizes he has some weird power......now Walt's ten years old as I recall and some boys do go into puberty at that time. Reminds me of the movie Firestarter and how they were worried about what Drew Barrymore's character could do when she hit puberty......

I don't think he meant Jack... I am wondering (and this is a stretch) - could it be Walt? The Others sure did want him badly... perhaps Walt is the cure to this illness they all keep talking about...

I had thought about Walt but then I thought why would he ask John that question unless he didn't know the "him" was a child.

Jenn
09-29-2005, 10:17 AM
Yeah! The polar bear stuffed animals gave me goose bumps! Quite a few people on other forums are saying that Walt is the one that created that Polar Bear they shot... not sure I agree with that... too out there even for Lost....

I definitely think so. In a flashback, he was reading a book about birds, and lo and behold, the same bird he was reading about slammed into the patio window and died.

On the island, he was reading a comic book with a picture of a polar bear in it, and a polar bear (more than one, right?) appeared on the island. I think he has some kind of powers that the 'others' need.

Maybe he didn't know the one would be a child... perhaps all he knew was that a male would come that would have the cure?

That could be there is definatley something weird about Walt. I think he has the abilty to conjure up things like the Polar Bear who knows what all he can do.

09-29-2005, 11:15 AM
I also agree that Walt is a key player and definitely can conjure up animals. Plus Michael has referenced that he is "special" on several occassions.

Anyone else curious about Claire's son and his role in all of this? THe physic told her he had to be raised by her and no one else and yet it also seemed like he put her on that flight knowing it would crash on the island. THink he is the next one the others are going to come after?

IowaGal1975
09-29-2005, 07:58 PM
I think it's children in general myself. Walt is the key right now b/c of his age and the brink he's on.

This is biased but the one thing I truly care about is that J.J. Abrams keeps to his word that "As long as Dominic comes out of his trailer, he gets to stay on the island...". If they kill off my adorable Hobbitt I will slay ABC. ;)

I am wondering something.

Okay Desmond has been down in that thing for who knows how long, typing the numbers into that computer every, what was it 108 minutes or hours, and he is doing this like his life depends upon it. And after all of this and the isolation he is a bit nutso.

Hurley heard the numbers while in a psyche ward, from a guy that kept repeating them. What if that guy was replaced by Desmond?? I think the island is some site of some weird experiments.

Oh, I'm so lost! They re-run it so much I figure I'm better off watching Martha and catching up later. And I need my DVDs from Season 1 to arrive so I can get all the story lines straight.

Does anyone find it not as interesting when there's not as much of the relationship development between the survivors? They're getting more into the Others and I'm not liking it as much. But then, I'm only catching it on the commercial breaks.

OMG! I love "Lost." It is definitely one of the most inventive and captivating shows. Everyone else is trying to capture the magic and mystery that this show has --but no one has even come close! That's because of the wonderful casting and amazing writing. I can't tell you how happy I am to see a show that isn't junk on tv!

I am so loving the second season, and I can't wait to see what happens next! And oh hey, KAYSAR --I don't know how it would work-- but here's a show that would definitely be worth guest-starring on. Hehe. ^_^

I am also interested in Jin speaking english in the preview.

I know! I loved how in the beginning they did such a good job developing the characters and then cutting back to how they ended up on the plane.

But I'm afraid I've missed important pieces that will interfere with these new episodes. I made the mistake of queueing all the Moonlighting episodes in Blockbuster and have to return them all before I can get the Lost ones.

So I guess no one has heard Jin speak English yet?

I haven't been peeking at the other pages because I don't want to see spoilers so you may have already discussed...

Who are your favorites?

I think mine are:

1. Locke
2. Charlie
3. Sawyer
4. Hurley
5. Sun

Of course I like Jack but he's just too much of an obvious one.

I CAN NOT WAIT for Lost on Wednesday... My son is driving me nuts with questions. We've watched last weeks show 3 times now. We are so wrapped up in the emotional aspect of the show, we can never watch all the subtle hints and information. It's more fun to watch and feel and then find things you missed surfing the net! I've seen every episode, but I know I've missed important clues. Sayid.. Sawyer.. Charlie... Locke... Jack... Jin.. Sun... Hurley... Claire... Kate... Walt... Michael and of course VINCENT!
