I'm guessing you're referring to Halal meat. It's similar to Jewish kosher meat.
Muslims cannot eat non-Halal meat. For an animal to be killed in a Halal manner it has to be killed by cutting the jugular vein in the neck with a swift, clean cut to kill the animal as quickly and painlessly as possible and to drain the blood out, because Muslims can't drink blood or eat meat with blood in it. You must say "Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim" (In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful). You must be kind to the animal and not let it see other animals being killed and must give it food or water to eat/drink before you kill it, to be kind. You should only kill out of necessity.

Pigs are not allowed to be eaten, among other things, which I don't have time to explain at the moment! Later, Insha'Allah!

I'd like to write a lot more, but I have to go to the Masjed (mosque) now!

Cool. Thanx. My religion isn't allowed to eat or drink blood either. Also, in line with that we don't take blood transfusions. Is it the same for muslims?

About blood transfusions, yes they are allowed in Islam.

My friend said that in the Islamic Republic of Iran people are encouraged to donate blood. :)

The man in my avatar is Imam Sayyed Ruhollah Khomaini (May Allah bless his soul) - the leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. :) No disrespect!

Thank you.

If I may bother you with another question, what is the correct spelling of Qu'ran or Koran or Quarn...I've seen it spelled several ways. i would like to spell it correctly. Is perhaps the spelling regional?

In correct Arabic transliteration, it's spelled "Qur'an." Koran is how non-Muslim's wrote it until recently, and how anti-Muslims/Islamophobics spell it!

It doesn't work when I write in Arabic on this forum, so I can't show you how it's spelled in Arabic. :(

It is Q not K. Infact you will not find any Koran that is supported by Mecca. Alway look for Qu'ran that has the support of Mecca.

Q and K each have their own equivalents in the Arabic alphabet, and the Arabic word Qur'an begins with the one that is like 'Q' (incidentally, so does Kaysar's name in Arabic ;) ).

The apostrophe in the word Qur'an symbolizes an Arabic character that has no equivalent in English. If you're writing a transliterated version of the Arabic word, then "Qur'an" is the best way to write it. But if you're writing the English word for the Muslim holy book, then "Quran" would be the correct way (because that apostrophe is meaningless in English, as mentioned).
