Forgiveness is wonderful. I believe we are not perfect but strive to be as close to it as possible at times. But being human we make mistakes. Sometimes very bad ones. If anyone is muslim or knows please answer this question- What about people who murder or rape or steal. If they truley repent will God forgive them and the people or family surrounding a case like this should they forgive or is it justified to not want too forgive? Thank you. And I hope i dont offend anyone

There are a number of Surahs on forgiveness. this is just a small sample

Surah 4:17-18
Allah does accept repentance, but only of those who are guilty of an evil out of ignorance yet quickly repent, and Allah turns to them again.
But (He does not accept) the repentance of those who continue indulging in evil until death draws near and they say
We now repent;" nor of those who die disbelieving.

Surah 3:135
And those who, if they commit a shamful act or some wrong against themselves, remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins: For who can forgive except Allah? The should not be perverse about their doings, knowingly.

Surah 2:263
Saying a word of kind, and forgiving is better than charity that hurts. (Do not forget that) Allah is affluent and kind.

It would be hard to forgive someone if they did something terrible to your family. But I do believe if you truley are sorry you should be forgiven

It might be hard to forgive someone who did terrible things to your family, but the question is what is it worth to your soul? How can I ask God to forgive my many transgressions if I am unwilling to forgive others? I forgive...because my heart won't allow me to do otherwise.

Debookwrm I think your right. I can't ask God to forgive my sins if I don't forgive others for theres. I can just see where it would take some people time to forgive.

I tend to try to forgive people quickly , i never stay mad long. But the reason i do this is not a religious one, its simply that carrying around that bad feeling of carrying a grudge and the all around ickiness when your mad only runs me down. I prefer to try to be positive then to carry around negative feelings.

True. Who want to feel bad. I know I dont. I try to forgive fast too. I ususally do once i cool down. Sometimes I have to sleep on it other times I pray about it and I usually feel better.
