I think what you are talking about is Arabic, The Quran is translated into all languages but Arabic is the original lang. Arabic it's self has different dialects, the one for the Quran is commonly known as Quranic Arabic or Egyptian Arabic.

I know that Imaams (spelling?) recite the Quran in Arabic even if they do not speak Arabic. It's very intersting because I learned most of Non-Arab Muslims can read the Quran in Arabic, I am not sure if they understand it though. Mostly likely, they refer to your own language translation for the meaning.

Only 20% of Muslims are Arabs and 5% of Arabs are Christians. Just because one is Muslim doesn't mean you speak or know Arabic. Most Muslims speak totally different languages than Arabic - like Farsi (Persian), Urdu, Indonesian, English, etc.

Arabic could be considered the official language of Islam, but other languages have their own words for Arabic terms. Like God in Farsi and Urdu is Khoda. Persians don't say Allah in everyday speech, they say Khoda. And prayer (Salat in Arabic) in Farsi and Urdu is Namaz. Most people use the term from their language rather than the Arabic term.
