I often see Him laughing at some of the stupid things that go on in the world. In the same token i often picture him weeping. (but then i have a very active imagination) lol.
I'm just curious on the thoughts of this .
Or do you beleive he is above all that and has no human emotions?
Yes.
Look at the funny things in creation; some creatures are so weird, so odd, so funny to look at, yet He created them.
Yes.
For emotions, ours are flawed by sin, whereas His are not. When He loves, it is a pure love. When He is angry, it is a righteous anger. I think He has joy when we want to know about Him.
Us? We get thrilled when someone we don't like trips and falls when we should ask 'are you ok?'

From http://www.almizan.org/new/9Q&A.asp :
Question:. The Qur’an talks of Allah getting angry, being pleased etc. This implies that He has emotions. Aren’t emotions a relative thing? If Allah created emotions then how can He be bound by it?
Answer: Emotions for Allah are used in the Qur’an in a metaphorical way. It takes a human mind to understand what it is already familiar with. Allah’s anger or wrath is not the same as that of a human being. The gushing of blood into the brain causes anger in a human being. Allah takes revenge because He is “the Avenger” but such emotions are revealed in a limited expression fit for our understanding.

I believe he laughs, cries, spits when he's ticked and ponders the future incenssently. Yes, I do believe he made man (Adam) in his image. I also believe he's a great Mathematician and has a thing for numbers.

God does have emptions as he has Mercy, but the emotions may not be as we know them.
We learn from Verse 39:67 that God's greatness is far beyond human comprehension -
Surah 39:67
They can never fathom the greatness of GOD. The whole earth is within His fist on the Day of Resurrection. In fact, the universes are folded within His right hand. Be He glorified; He is much too high above needing any partners.

Ok because i often think he must .....but at the same time i think he is perfect. Its hard to picture someone who is perfect getting emotional.

but isn't love emotion.
That is also why we can not always understand.

The point being made in what I quoted is that it's very difficult for us to gain a true understanding of the spiritual dimension because of the limitations of our minds. So metaphors are used to describe aspects of the spiritual dimension in terms of the physical world with which we are familiar.
For example, the Quran says that in Heaven there are rivers of milk and rivers of honey....that's a way to describe it in our terms, but it's not as if there will be an actual river of milk into which we could put a glass and drink as much as we want. :) (Besides, we will not even be in this same physical form as we are now.) Similarly, characteristics of God are described in terms with which we can relate, simply for the purpose of helping us understand the message and its meaning.

Oh my...I never thought I would post in this particular fourum, but here I am...
I believe that God created all things so yes he created humor & all emotions as that is what the human soul consits(SP) of...it's what makes us human....& since we were created in his image, would'nt that mean he posseses those qualities as well...I don't know if this makes sence, but it makes sence to me...

He's gotta have a sense of humor. He created humans didnt he? Also according to the Bible, humans are created in Gods image, so yes, I think God has a sense of humor.

HI Ladyjink, yes I think he does. He created Jim Carey and Marcellas. So yes, if he can make funny people, then he is the author of all that is funny. I think he laughs for sure. I have a friend who says she knows God laughs at her.

Most of God's creations do not have a sense of humor-I think it is just a gift to humans.

i think he did so we wouldnt go crazy
Id like to discuss this understanding that "God created man in his image".
As one might begin to think, if there is a God, he must be all powerful in the sense of omnipotent, otherwise what would control the things that he is not able to control. Furthermore, if God is omnipotent, than he cannot be contained or held back by anything, i.e. there cannot be bounds on his being, right?
So, then lets examine man. I cannot be in my house and in China at the same time, its just not physically possible. I cannot talk to a person and know exactly the words in their mind, its just not possible. I have boundaries to my being, as one can logically say. This is a rational fact. So If Allah has no bounds, yet man has many bounds, than it cannot rationally be possible that Man was created in the image of God. This is the view of Islam.
As God is boundless, I cannot begin to wrap my mind around who he ultimatly is. If I did, than Allah would be bounded by only what I can understand, and I cannot understand being on the moon and earth at the same time. For this reason, the Quran describes Allah in ways that we can understand. We understand Allah's essence through his attributes.

I believe God does have a sense of humor since we are created in His image and we have a sense of humor. I think like almost all of the gifts that God has blessed us with man has in some ways perverted humor (as in the sense of REALLY crude or racist jokes, etc).
To try to wrap your mind around the personality of God is like trying to nail jello to the wall. He is just too awesome to define, but it makes my heart leap to ponder!

One morning, during our daily routine of exercising, my husband and I were playing around with various moves, like doing the "washing machine", skipping in place, and making stuff up to try, just laughing and having fun. Later that same night, we tuned into Nightline, which we rarely did before then, and it was a story about this old film footage from before ww1 that had been found in a shop in England and was being restored. They showed small snippets of the film and one of the segments had school children doing exercises. They were doing the same funny moves in the exact choreograped order that we had done that very morning! And here we thought we were so clever with our creativity. :D "SubhanAllah" (Glory to Allah!) breathlessly escaped from my tongue repeatedly, as we watched in stunned amazement. These exact movements, captured on film and hidden for so many years, was being reflected back to us to see in the present time. It was so odd, we both felt like God was smiling upon us, like it was meant for us specifically. All the needed elements for this moment to happen, the action of the children, the film-made over 90 years ago, the finding of the old film, it's restoration, it's broadcast that night, us having mindless fun that morning, then turning on the TV to that channel on that night, they all came together. Synchronicity of time, happenstance, coincidence, no meaning at all? It seems frivolous but for us, that experience will always be a living confirmation of God's sense of humor.
