HI. ok i'm not too sure what this particular section of the forum is for, but it looks like it deals with lessons in life and/or words of wisdom. So here are some words of inspiration that get me through the day. If you have your own too, please share! We could all use some *inspiration* in our lives! :)

*believing in yourself:
You are the only one can do it like you do it. You are the best. You have what it takes. You've got juice. You've got the power. You and only you have, and nobody can take that away from you. You come from the best, the beginning, the source. You are destined to be great. You inherited a legacy of success from those who came before you. They knew you could do it, too! You are the light in life. You light up the world. You make life worth living. You can't lose with the stuff you use. You are the beginning and the end of the phenomena called you. You are the one who makes the bed. You call the shots. You stand heads above the crowd. They can't hold a candle to you. When you put your mind to something, you get it done. So what are you waiting for?

*Finding yourself:
The only way to eliminate stress and pain is to stop doing the things that create it. It is easy to see what others do to us while we forget the drama we create for ourselves. How? Take your pick. The need to be right. Lack of life purpose. How we think others see us. Trying to fix the world. Dishonesty with self and others. Accepting someone else's truth. Seeking material wealth over spiritual values. Doing it alone. My way is the right way. Fear for the future. Negative thought patterns. Trying to prove yourself to others. Anger over the past. Telling other people what to do. It boils down to "not knowing who we are".

..these always make me feel better. hmm, i have a lot more too ;)

Except death.

I have a little prayer I say every morning. I keep it on the fridge..

"Dear God. Cleanse me today from all wickedness. Clear my mind of all ungodly thoughts, so my actions will reflect your greatness."

This has brought a peace to me. It helps me deal with all the unpleasantness in my life. I am slow to anger, and most things just roll off my shoulders. Anyone married knows you need help in that department.. :)

I have two favorites...They are posted both at home and in my office.

Start living now. Stop saving the good china for that special occasion. Stop withholding your love until that special person materializes. Every day you are alive is a special occasion. Every minute, every breath, is a gift from God.

REcently, we were driving back from a trip across country and every time I thought of returning home, I became very anxoius and nervous. Three days before we had left, friends had taken us out to dinner for my fiance's birthday. I was developing some sort of intestinal flu and felt so awful, i started to cry, so I went to go sit outside to wait while they finished up and paid.

While I was sitting there, crying, a guy charged at me and took my purse. Of course I didn't let go, so I got dragged a little way until the strap broke. I started to chase him, he ran out into traffic and then I realized if I ever caught up with him he'd probably kick my ass. The situation was much more upsetting, even traumatic, that I would have ever imagined. I felt idiotic for becoming so bent out of shape for it, but there it was.

Anyway, on the second day of our four day drive, the anxiety and nervousness were driving me crazy, and then a very very simple thought came to me. "Tomorrow can wait". I usually have at least two or more levels of thoughts going on in my head at once (i'm a multitasker, even when it comes to thinking), but this one took center stage. I can't even begin to explain how much that resounded with me. I was able to put aside all of my worry and focus on the moment. I am still telling myself that constantly.

Here is an affirmation that my co-worker uses: "I am happy, I am healthy, I am holy". I really like that.

That's one of my favorite sayings of Adrian Rogers but his was expanded to "When your soul is holy, your spirit is happy and your body is healthy."

Often we think fixing the problems around us is going to give us peace when we can change everything around us and still not be at rest. It's only when we stop focusing on the external and find the spirit of God that we can realize real inner peace.

A mystery, Uunfold it.
A journey, Walk it.
Painful, Endure it.

A joke, Laugh at it.
A song, Sing it.
A flower, Smell it.
Wonderful, Enjoy it.
A candle, Light it.
Precious, Don't waste it.
A gift, Open it.
Love, Give it.

Hey Delilah...i'm sorry that happened to you!! Similar thing happened to me. My family's store got robbed at gunpoint. But i was very young at the time, so i dont remember it much.

But yah, isnt it funny how scary traumatizing situations can change your life for the better? It definitely makes you put your life into perspective. I'm glad something good came out of your situation & that you can now live with a new & better focus on life. :)

"I am happy, I am healthy, I am Holy." ---> i like that too. Definitely something my mother would say!

What’s Holding You Back? There are things you want to accomplish in a day, a week, a month, a year, your lifetime-but, there are obstacles that seem to get in your way. We’ve all made “To Do” lists. Maybe it’s time to make 2 lists-or at least mental notes naming the obstacles, and ways to eliminate them. This little exercise or habit enables you to look ahead and contemplate possible problems and how best to solve them-giving you a definite advantage over obstacles. This also allows your “To Do” list to become shorter, even faster. Good Luck! :)

Thanks melly,

I love Iyanla - have you seen her on Starting Over? I tape that show just so I can hear what she has to say to the women.

She's unflappably optimistic.

heart to heart:
When was the last time yu sat down to have a heart to heart with yourself? Have you really examined your heart lately? Are you harboring childhood wounds? Are you still nursing a broken heart? Are you frightened? Angry? Guilty or ashamed? Is there someone you need to apologize to? Who have you forgiven lately? If God were to speak through your heart today, what would you hear? In the everyday quest to get through life, we sometimes forget we really do have all we need. It's tucked away safely inside of us. It contributes to our thoughts and motivates our actions. If we clear it out it will actually speak to us and tell us exactly what to do. When was the last time you had a heart to heart with yourself?

When you concern yourself with doing only what others "think" you can do, you lay the floor of the prison. When you conform your activities based on what others say, you put the bars around your prison. When you allow what others have done or are doing to determine what you can do, you build the roof to your prison. When you allow fear, competition, or greed to guide your actions, you lock yourself up and throw away the key.It is our concern over what others say, do, and think about us that imprisons our mind, body, and soul.
What other people think about me is not my concern.

Your body is 96% water. Like the ocean, you are a mystery of buried treasures. The deeper you are willing to go, the greater the treasures you will find. Your mind is the only equipment you need. The sharper your mind, the greater the depths that will be revealed of you. Never allow anyone or anything to limit your mind because of your race, color, or gender expressions, since your mind feeds your emotions. The emotions of your heart will keep your dreams afloat. If you can feel it,the world must reveal it. When you take time to breath consciously, stilling the motion of your mind, you can take a plunge into the deepest resources of your soul. Take a plunge within yourself to find the joy, strength, peace, freedom, and love you may be seeking in the shores of life.
