In your life what is the one thing you'd want to change? Or what about the world would you want to change or make better?

One thing I would like to change in the world would be to open people's minds. To make them more acceptable and understanding of things that they "think" they know about. I think with this maybe there would be no more wars and people would be more willing to help out others more.
As for myself, I am working on the very thing that I would like for the world. I need to begin to work on myself to help change others around me.

I agree with you. That is exactly the answer i was going to give. I love how yousaid you had to work on yourself. That is how i feel. I know i make mistakes, I know i have not always opened my mind up for things I wasnt ready to hear. But i have be opening up my mind a lot more and taking in others thoughts feelings knowledge. It makes me feel like i am doing the world better by being this way. I may be only one person but if we all do this it can make a differnce. Opening your heart can be a very powerful thing

it would be great to have the power to change the whole world at once ...but what one thing would I change. and probably will never change and that is war ...about myself ,..the hypocrisy of getting so angry over people fighting...It just makes no sense for me to do that and yet I will get so riled up over people fighting and being negative that i end up doing the same....

kabbalist. What you said is perfect. We do need to take care of the earth and her creatures. If we dont were goin to through everything outta wack. The earth is our home it gives us air and food and so many beautiful things to look at and learn about.

The shape. JK. ;) Noooooo...the oceans that separate us-if relations were better. It would be nice to just hop in my car and take a drive over to France, Italy or Brazil if I was in the mood. Otherwise...previous posts all sound good too.

My biggest hope is that folks would realize that love is the strongest force in the universe and base their actions towards others on that. Love is stronger than evil, lies, hatred, misunderstandings and the entire list of all that tears us apart. If we could focus on the love, and yes both to our fellow man and our universe, and direct that energy towards other things, I feel the outcome would be amazing, and would have the power to positively impact just about everything discussed here and more.
Also, I think a truth often overlooked is if ones deeds follow their words. This is wonderfully discussed in that fabulous yet profound little book, "The Four Agreements." They seem so simple but emcompass so much. The one that speaks of always being true to your word really hits home with this. The love I speak of needs to be actions with your behavior, your words, your thoughts...not just saying pretty things that make you feel good. But I think if people truly lived from a position of love simply amazing things would follow. It's a truth I try hard to live, and pray others will.

The one thing I would like to change in the world is the way people treat other people.
Too many of us judge or get judged by the way we look, the way we live whether it be in a mansion or a apartment, by the jobs we have, the way we dress, music we listen to.
Just because someone is different from our selves does not mean there is anything wrong with them. I wish people would look into their hearts to be a little more forgiving, honest, caring and loving. I truly think if we all try just a little harder each day to be nice to others it would make a big difference. That way we are setting an example for our children, they will grow to be more loving, less judgemental of other people. More willing to lend a hand to help some one who is down and out. There is so much I would wish that I could change in this world. But I am just me, I can only work on myself and make sure I give my children a strong example to learn by. Then they may pass what they have learned on to their children.

Everyone here has excellent points. I agree Deb with the whole apperance thing. When kids are small and in school if they are picked on or have not many friends it will effect them in the future. Ive seen this so many times. There confidence goes they dont feel love and are more willing to do things they shouldnt. Like veryfinewhine said love is the most powerful force. It could change so much in this world if everyone would give love everyday

I think if we start teaching our children young to be kinder, gentler, more loving people. Then by the time they are adults the world they live in will be a much kinder, gentler, loving place.
Thanks Sara this was a great thread!

no problem. I wanted to start a thread that would hopfully bring people together. So far its working. This is such an important topic to think about. There is so much that could chang but it has to start with yourself, unfortunatley you cant force other people to feel the way you do. I agree Deb. It start with the chidren. Parents have to set that foundation for the kids so they can grow up to be good to people and good to themselves. We are sometimes out toughest critic and its nice when parents give children the reassurence they need as they grow. That way hopefully they wont need to depend on others opinions of themselves.

After thinking about this topic for, what 2-3 days, I still do not know what I should say.
While the utopic ideal is nice, how do you progress and learn without struggle and challenge?
I keep thinking about the people that I know. The ones that seem to me to be the best people are the ones who didn't have everything handed to them. They worked hard for what they have. They struggled. They failed. As the cliche goes, bad things happened to good people. And these are the people that I would give the shirt off my back.
Then there are the others. They have never had to work hard. There was no struggle. They never failed. While some eventually realized that the sun doesn't rise and set on them, they would ocassionally backslip. This isn't to say that they are all bad people. The best way I can describe it, is they are slightly out of focus.
This is just something I think about.

I know people just like this , who never have to work for anything and get everything handed to them. They do fail and when they do, they except everyone around them to pick up the pieces for them, clean up the messes for them. They will never realize that the sun does not set nor does it rise on them, because they will do nothing to help themselves. When the time comes and there is no one around for them to lean on or pick them up they are in for a rude awaking.

It does seem like bad things happen to good people. People stomp on the little people. Like movie stars consider us normies as little people. They get away with almost anything even murder. They get a little finger wave and they are set free. Not for us we have to work hard not only for a home but to fit in.
