Okay...it's bland, bore, and a bit dull...And I DESPISE rules but must insist on one and only one...NO SEARCH ENGINING OR LYRIC SITES...Only your memory...So let's test it...If no one can guess, I'll give out hints until someone gets them or gets too frustrated!! Some will be HITS in themselves, some will be TREASURES barely known by artists we frequently think we do!! Good luck and enjoy!! Keep feedback on genres you want/don't want excluded...So far it will be "80"s" to "country" to "US and Canadian rock/pop"
"She will listen to me when I want to speak
About the world we live in or life in general
And though my views may be wrong,
They may easily be perverted
She'll hear me out and won't easily be converted
To my way of thinking;
In fact she'll often disagree,
In the end of it all, she will understand me...."

And the almost winner is MANDY!!! Woohoo...I was just coming in here to ask if anyone thought that links to the music "once discovered" might be fun..And I find the almost answer..
It's obscure, I give ya that, but on one of their biggest albums..ONE WORD TITLE (The Song)...Help enough???

Ahhhh, I can hear the whole song, I thought that the title was Somebody to Share, so I am going to make two guesses after your hint, Somebody or Share. Can I do that? LOL
I loved that song, it still makes me tear up a little when I hear it, even though it's just in my head! LOL
The_TruthSeeker
03-29-2006, 12:12 PM
Oh it's a tear-jerker for sure...And it's simply Somebody...and when I can find the right person, I'll find where we can upload these soon so that people can hear them should they choose without having to download..If possible anyhow!! And I shall be back w/ more lyrics...unless someone else wants to stump us for a bit!! :)

Venga boys, Venga Bus!
OK, now to slow it down a little:
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that she will trust you

Mandy threw us this very familiar song as the next lyrics. There are no rules other than you can't "google" the lyrics or search a lyric site, etc. If we get stumped, we can ask for hints...til hopefully we get it!!!
I'm going Sara M on the artist, but still not getting the song...And again I profess oddly, as those words just jump out, but again...keep reminding me of something, someone older...Hmmm..am I warmer yet Mandy??
And jump in Laura..It's been pretty fun and you're up for it!! You, the lyric queen!! OH BOY LAURA!!

Yeah, but I don't know any of these! lol Am I the 'Lyric Queen'? Like how Jim was the 'Lizard King'? lol The lyrics that go in my signatures always refelect the current mood of my life at that point in time. It's shorthand! You never have to ask me how I am cause you'll know by reading my siggy! LOL I'm thinking "Because of you" might go next! :D Anyway, thanks for the "OH BOY LAURA" as I REALLY miss hearing that! ;) Now once we get this one cant we get something a little easier? lol

I'm sorry Truth, it is just such a favourite of mine, and I tend to be so egocentric I assume everyone knows and likes what I do! LOL It is a really beautiful song, and your choice made me a little melancholy (in a good way, if that's possible!) so I thought of this one.
A couple more hints, the artist is a Canadian male, a poet, and the song is old enough to be remade although I don't know if it ever was. Bigger hint: he also composed Bird on a Wire.

FINALLY...actually I had it if I could have only used my reading comprehension skills...lmbo...I swear I kept saying, "But a dude sings this...." And anyone that hung out w/ Jack Keroak (sp) such as LEONARD COHEN who wrote this song SUZANNE. You're right Mandy, it wasn't difficult once I let go of the idea it was a female recording artist!!!!!!! Bwaahhhh....
Anyway, apologies, and I am asking someone tonight to where I can upload these songs. That way for those who haven't heard them and enjoy various types of music, he/she/we can access it!! Still working on that though...
So, new lyrics...........Anyone, or I'll be back w/ something befitting my mood today!!! :)

YAY Truth! :clapping: I am so glad that you got it. Leonard Cohen is one of my favourites, and the lyrics of Suzanne are just so beautiful they just hang out in my head waiting for a chance to get out! (yes, I realize how crazy I sound! LOL)

And I never wanna see you sad girl:
Don't be a bad girl!
But if you wanna leave, take good care.
Hope you meet a lot of nice friends out there.

Nice choice Truth, I do love me some Bob Dylan! I think that we should take a hint from the title of the song: The Times They are A-Changing LOL. Here's my choice from the 60's":
Hey where did we go, days when the rain came.
Down in the hollow, playin' a new game.
Laughin' and a runnin' , hey hey, skippin' and a jumpin'
in the misty mornin' fog with our hearts a thumpin' at you,

Awesome choice...that was easy for me cause I always loved it cause my family used to sing it to me as a child!! Nice memories!!
My friend wants me to put this up...so here it goes...this generation...
"Fu** a needle,
Here's a sword...
Body pierce w/ this!"
If we are all stumped, I'll move on but we can try!!! BWAHHHHHH

Every night that goes between
I feel a little less
As you slowly go away from me
This is only another test
Every night you do not come
Your softness fades away
Did I ever really care that much
Is there anything left to say...
I should have known from the first,
I'd be the broken hearted
But I loved you from the start
Save us...
And not all the prayers in the world, could save us

I really dunno this one... but coming in late to read this thread, the VERY first one you put up Lin I knew IMMEDIATELY! CRAP! I wish I'd seen it earlier!!! I LOVE that song Somebody... The first time I heard it was on DM's live album 101 years ago... it's just one of their most beautiful songs that they've ever done... This album is my top fav to listen to... and the way Somebody was performed that night, you can tell Dave sung it from the heart.

Blues Traveler - I forget the song title tho :D

Oh yes, Gimmie one Reason, that's my favourite too Queen. It reminds me of a lovely summer evening with an amazing man, on a deserted beach in the middle of nowhere, the song playing softly over the portable radio... Ahem, I'm ok now! LOL Isn't it amazing the memories and feelings that music can evoke?
You are quite right Queen, Blues Traveler it is. A hint for the title is "not staying in one place". :D

Okay Mandy....I can't take it anymore...out of the title choices on Limewire..I went w/ Runaway, but I admittedly heard no such lyrics in the song...HELP..we're outta options...:D
And yes LB, :), It SOOOOOOOOOO shoulda been Gimme One Good Reason..except that after listening to it nothing was applicable after "Gimme one good reason, and I'll turn right back around!!!!!!!!" BWWWWAHHHHHHHH

LOL Truth. You are so close with the title, I believe that it is Run Around. THat was one of my favourites at the time.

Hehe Mandy...Close counts for me in this game...:)...Sometimes I tend to dish out ones better than I take em!!
But I know my past
You were there
In everything I've done.
You are the one.
Hint: Toured summer 2005 in Canada w/ now two 2005 JUNO wins and closed the CMA's, a band of which I'm sure you'll all hear much more about shortly, Matt Mays and the El Torpedoes. (Okay, so maybe I should say Matt Mays was opening for THIS BAND...Two Word Named Band...)
Mandy
04-04-2006, 01:00 PM
LOL Truth, you are so right, close counts in this game!
Your song choice is perfect. I was just listening to them in the car on the way to work! (not really a coincidence though, they are most played on my mp3 player!) Do you have their "best of" album? It is a great compilation, except that they didn't include Falling Down Blue from the Tremelo album, one of my my favourite songs of all time! I have seen them in concert a bunch, and I am glad to hear that you like them too! (LOL, I sound like my 16 year old cousin gushing!)
Oops, got a little side tracked! This song is 5 Days in May by Blue Rodeo, one of the best Canadian bands ever! (In my opinion)
I will be back to post one in a bit, I have to get that one out of my head first! LOL
Okay, I'm game for this um, game.
;)
Here are some lyrics... guess the artist and song:
I am on a lonely road
and I am travelling, travelling, travelling
looking for something
what can it be?
Oh I hate you some
I hate you some
I love you some
Oh I love you when I forget about me
Mandy
04-04-2006, 05:52 PM
OK Anii, I am pretty sure that this is Joni Mitchell.
I can remember the lyrics "do you want do you want to dance with me"... but I can't remember the title. How about Do You Want? LOL

While we are waiting for Anne to come back, here are some more. I think more than one person should go at a time so that the game never has to stop for a moment! lol This may be TOO easy so I am not giving any hints. I wanted to go with a more obscure song by this artist but Lin seems to hate it when I do that! lol
The world was on fire
No one could save me but you.
Strange what desire will make foolish people do
I never dreamed that i'd meet somebody like you
And i never dreamed that i'd lose somebody like you
Mandy
04-05-2006, 11:29 AM
Oh what a "Wicked Game" you play Queen! Chris Isaak I believe. You guys are picking much of my favourite music, and creating multiple "song worms" with which I have to struggle! LOL
I think you're right about keeping up the pace, here's one for you:
I loved you for a long, long time
I know this love is real
It don't matter how it all went wrong
That don't change the way I feel
quendiva26
04-05-2006, 11:46 AM
way too generic. give me more! lol What is a 'song worm'? lol
Mandy
04-05-2006, 12:00 PM
LOL Queen, I guess it's called an earworm, not a song worm. You know, when you get a song stuck in your head and can't get it out?
OK, I am really unoriginal with my song selection today, it was written by Leonard Cohen, and Jennifer Warnes has covered it.
Here is a bit more:
I've loved you for a long, long time
I know this love is real
It don't matter how it all went wrong
That don't change the way I feel
I don't believe that time can heal
This wound I'm speaking of
Ah, there ain't no cure...
quendiva26
04-05-2006, 01:39 PM
I actually don't know a lot of Leonard Cohen. I know like one song of his! lol But he has a GREAT voice and I would love to hear more! I'll have to add some more too, in a little while. What else ya got in that bag of tricks? lol
OK Anii, I am pretty sure that this is Joni Mitchell.
I can remember the lyrics "do you want do you want to dance with me"... but I can't remember the title. How about Do You Want? LOL
Correct. It's "All I Want" by Joni Mitchell.
Mandy
04-06-2006, 11:13 AM
Good song Anii.
So how about this classic:
When my soul was in the lost-and-found
You came along to claim it
I didn't know just what was wrong with me
Till your kiss helped me name it
(You make me feel like a) Natural Woman, written by Carole King, made famous by Aretha Franklin.
Okay, try this:
Though we had our fling
I just never would suspect a thing
’til that little bell began to ring in my head
In my head
But I tried to run,
Though I knew it wouldn’t help me none
’cause I couldn’t ever love no one, or so I said

While you're working on that one, cause I have NO idea what it is! lol - Welcome to my 'deep dark secret', my other, more hidden, less often revealed passion/ taste in music.
Your eyes keep things well hidden
Just a hint of what you're holding inside
And the first day that I met you

(You make me feel like a) Natural Woman, written by Carole King, made famous by Aretha Franklin.
Okay, try this:
Though we had our fling
I just never would suspect a thing
’til that little bell began to ring in my head
In my head
But I tried to run,
Though I knew it wouldn’t help me none
’cause I couldn’t ever love no one, or so I said
Anni, Anni, lend me a hand....HINT PLS...genre, generation, artist vs. band, female/male, huge hit/flip side of a 45 (OMG should I name this the DATE YOURSELF thread...lmbo!! :) )??? It does ring familiar...................
okay...
70s, male, has an interesting child-raising history

Hint - 80's rock band.
Another hint, there are two words in the song title and I saw one of them on the post you last made.

Hey everyone...I'm feeling a bit better so I am finally getting a chance to post again. I want to REVIVE this game, but perhaps should we make it a bit easier? Also, I wanted to know if anyone might know to where I could upload these songs so that others could download them to enjoy. Is there a place to upload "audio share" as there is "video share uploads"? If anyone knows, PLEASE help us out w/ this!! I think that will make this far more fun, as personally I download EVERY lyric we tackle and really appreciate some of the beautiful music that I have been introduced to, and I am sure there is more great stuff to come!! Keep any ideas or suggestions flowing!! Thanks!! Now, let me download the last song, pic one, and have some fun...
Oh, and by rights, Anii you could have picked the next song since you answered correctly, but for now and because I am dying to, I will post the next lyrics...Let's get to some FUN everyone! :yay1:

Okay...here's the next beauty....changing genres to COUNTRY...Good luck..I at least picked a cross-over for starters!!
"I spent most of the next days
Looking at the x-rays,
Talking about options
And talkin about sweet time...
I asked him when it sank in,
"Could this really be the end?"...
Good luck...This one should be easy!!

Cat Stevens' "Wild World"?
If correct, how about this?
"Put it in the ground
Where the flowers grow
Gold and silver shine"
