what a great quote. so many times we (myself especially ) will help and do and advocate and care for and concentrate on others and how they act and feel and do and dont do but we forget about ourselves and how we act and feel and do and who we are, and what we have the potential to become. we get so wrapped up in other's lives we forget about outselves and what we like and what makes us happy, makes us tick.
if there was anyone who needed to see this its me - especially with what's going on in my life right now. thank you, so much.

Funny, when I first read this I knew I had heard it before...it is from Lao Tzu...whom is frequently called the father of Taoism. Not to say that Kaysar is converting....but how very zen of you.
"Knowing others is wisdom; Knowing the self is enlightenment; Mastering others requires force; Mastering the self needs strength (http://lifeofhope.com/strengthquotes1.htm)" [Lao Tzu]

I know myself I tend to sit back and not talk that much until I get a sense of who someone is. But its funny that not until this year have I really been trying to figure out who i am as a person. I think gaining knowledge of people is a great thing, and i learned that its best for people to find out about people on their own rather then from what someone says about them. Then to know yourself and to love yourself is very important because how can you love and understand others if you don't know who you are.

This may be my favorite part of your forum Mr. Ridha. I was wondering though, how long does it take for us to know ourselves? I'm still trying to figure me out.

Is this in the Tao Te Ching? Or another work? Just curious.
