Everytime I turn around and read the news I'm seeing more and more acts of vandalism of Catholic churches. :( I don't understand why some people do this sorta stuff.

http://www.catholicleague.org/catalyst.php?year=2000&month=December&read=1123 (http://www.catholicleague.org/catalyst.php?year=2000&month=December&read=1123)

Another thing that was bothering me was
I was talking to a friend who is Mormon and I'm Catholic and he was telling me that some Christians he knows do not think Catholics are Christian:confused1 which isn't true.Am I missing something? Why would some people think that?

their ignorance or opinion won't change one's personal faith.. or hopefully it would not.. I consider myself Christian but am of Conservative Baptist training (believing in the Trinity .. Father Son and Holy Ghost) .. but not of Catholic faith in the least. Totally different.

when filling out survey's or questions regarding faith I find myself checking 'other' as in this Society that is mostly associated with Catholics IMO.. I have no ill will against other religions as Faith in something God or ? sustains people to go from day to day.. as best they know how to do...

as to the vandalism.. its them pushing the envelope.. and really although they may be making a 'statement'.. it is just .. 'stuff' and won't or shouldn't rock the greater good from continuing their message..

just me on a late night ramble.. but really do believe most of that..

Yeah you would think that this sort of stuff would only make ones faith stronger. I believe in the Trinity as well it's considered a sin not to. I guess every religion has their differences even though i think most have more things in common then different. It's just sad that people feel they need to make a statement like that but it happens everywhere not just Catholics as we all know. Don't mind me last night i was cranky and tired and rambling away. :P

some people believe that because catholics pray to Mary and saints that they arent really Christian, because to be Christian means that you only pray to God and are saved through Jesus dying on the cross. Some Christians think its ridiculous to pray to Mary, as all she did was give birth to Jesus, she isn't a part of the Holy Trinity, etc etc etc. Its not really polytheistic, though, praying to Mary/the saints. When Catholics pray to Mary/St. Whomever, they are asking them to pray for them. Its no different than me asking you guys to pray for me/whomever, except the difference is that these saints/Mary are dead.

I'm sure there's more reasons but thats all I can think of off the top of my head. Having a Pope, the Reformation, and more currently, child molestation scandals come to mind as well, when thinking why the broader Christian community wouldn't want Catholics associating with them. because, you know, indoctrinating things like Jesus Camp are so much better. *eyeroll* It's just hypocracy Sara, no matter how you look at it. You worship and pray and act how you chose. You're responsible for being a good person and giving love... leave the rest of the judging up to God.

Oh I see what you are saying.
Thanks Karina for posting your thoughts. I think I'll just worry about what you said in your last sentence. :)
